Yes the world is going through an economic crisis right now and to add the burden of another tax on coal and other energy generating commodities which everyone rich or poor needs will push more people into poverty and make life more difficult while lining the pockets of those out to fleece us all in the name of saving the earth. The weather cannot be controlled so where would the money go?

From what I have read the US as always will pay the biggest price to support this fiasco because there are countries who will be exempt or not participate at all what is the goal here world domination ?By who? There is a lot we are not being told as usual.I guess that's how socialism works.

Some nations will see benefits in that the treaty being considered is just a rehashed Kyoto Protocol that was intended to be an international welfare system. It will hurt America. That is the point of it !

Creating an atmosphere of increased stewardship for our planet will not hurt anybody's economy, instead it will lead to new technologies and jobs and grow the economy. Environmentalism is not a political or economic issue (Boonsboro, are you listening?) rather it is a moral issue. Do the right thing for Planet Earth!

If Obama signs this treaty it will mean we will have taxation without representation.

Read Thomas Friedman's book, HOT, FLAT and CROWDED for information on climate change and how America can be invigorated by "greening."

Underdog's observation is correct. It is a re-vamped Kyoto. If provisions of the "treaty" are observed, they will damage some sectors of the economy, and enhance others. Basically, however, negative overall, IMHO. Question is: will the "treaty" provisions actually be honored? I don't think they will be. The economy will be so bad in two years that the "treaty" will simply be ignored.

Economists think the US and world economies are growing and getting better, not worse.

I know as much as anyone who voted about treaties, climate change, and the world economy unfortunately, I couldn't convince myself to vote.

Who worded that question - Fox News? The only possible consequence could be new forms of energy, jobs created in industrial adaptation, investing in cleaner technologies required of the owners who, left to continue poisoning the rest of us, would just keep piling up money. It's just sad to read the roll here of people, probably struggling near the bottom of the economy, whose brains are pickled in the politic swill spooned out by Fox & "Rush" & quit-your-way-to-the-top Palin. If you are told who to hate and resent, you are being used.

There is now an investigation into the climate change report and the false information with in and how it has been covered up to make a profit for some scientists guess their are dishonest people in all professions.

jimbochicago "If you are told who to hate and resent, you are being used." ~ Well I guess that describes you and your bunch of liberal associates real well.... Your group seems to be the ones that describes anyone who does not agree with you in derogatory terms...

In less than 3 days, this question will be more than one month old--this question, like fish, stinks when it ages.

The super-rich will get richer- while the rich will get poor and the poor will get poorer. You have to look at who this will immediately benefit. The Enron designed 'carbon credit' system will benefit those who jumped in on the scam early. The government sanctioned super-corp GE (much like IG Farben: Bayer during the rise of corporatism in Europe 70 years ago) will be the first to benefit in this complex governmental/corporate relationship. Huge money is to be made on forcing companies to buy credits to offset the producing of a gas once thought to be a natural part of respiration. But, lets not mince words the people paying for all this will be the consumer- every consumer in fact. Why? Climate change, even thought the climate has been changing for the 4 billion plus years before the industrial revolution, some how we are to believe man is the major factor in climate change (google the eocene optimum).

independent, If they are still employed, they shouldn't be, leaving a dumb question like this on for 2 months. Lets hire a 5th grader, since everyone on the show is dumber than a 5th grader.

"Global Warming" is an even bigger farce than selling the Brooklyn Bridge! All it is, is a few EVIL people with assumed power trying to bring down the world USA, and the entire Western World. They think that all of us are like them.....to ignorant to realize that "Global Warming" is what ended the last Ice Age, and actually made the earth inhabitable. It has been going on for the last few million years!. If Congress follows Obommers lead and votes for what he wants, that alone will be the end of Western Civilization as we know it, without ObommerCare, which in its self is TREASON against the USA Government, as it violates at least 3 "Bill of Rights" statutes.

The European Union and everyone else that signed the Kyoto Treaty, ignored it and did not reduce their emissions. I would like to see a poll about how Democratic policies throughout history have damaged the US economy.
