Bob A. Holmes Sr., 63

KEEDYSVILLE - Bob A. Holmes Sr., 63, of Keedysville, Md., died suddenly on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.
Born on Aug. 14, 1946, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Cleveland G. and Lillian V. (Toms) Holmes.
Bob retired in 2008 after 10 years of service with Staples Distribution Center in Hagerstown.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary E. (Springer) Holmes; five children, Bob Holmes Jr., Penny Catlett, Teresa Holmes, Lisa Seebeck and Barbara Holmes; two stepsons, Gary and Jimmy Nelson; three sisters, Lillian "Doll" Whitmore, Mary Jane Beachley and Debra Beaver; four brothers, Thomas, Gary, Allan and Richard Holmes; 24 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by one grandson, Jordan Holmes; his sister, Barbara Holmes Darr; and two brothers, Dennis and Cleveland Holmes Jr.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Harold L. Overcash Jr. will officiate. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation information will be available at the funeral home.
