Shepherd women get first victory

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

WEST CHESTER, Pa. — Camille Wilmer had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Shepherd University to a 76-63 win over Cheyney on Wednesday.

Shelby Fayak also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Carrie Saunders scored 15 points, Jenn Prine added 13 points and Katie Biggs had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Rams (1-1).

Crawford runs NYC again

NEW YORK — Robert Crawford, 60, of Cascade, recently completed the New York City Marathon for the 22nd time in his career.

Crawford covered the 26.2-mile course in 5 hours, 3 minutes, 33 seconds to place 35,211th out of 43,741 runners.

Springfield Middle School’s eighth grade travel team completed its third consecutive perfect season by winning the Washington County Middle School tournament.

The U10 Smithsburg SYA Leopards won the two-day FCYSL fall tournament title with a 5-0 record. The team did not allow a goal in the tournament.

The U14 SYA Lady Leopards took second place in the FCYSL Division II Tournament recently. They finished the regular season with a 6-2-0 record and were 3-1-1 in tournament play with four shutouts. The Leopards lost to the HYMCA Hurricanes in the FCYSL Division II Tournament final 2-1 in overtime.
The Blast won the HAYSL U10 Girls Tournament last weekend and completed the season with a 9-1-3 record.
