Ramona Elaine Stains, 83

Ramona Elaine Stains, 83, formerly of 10904 Allen Ave., Hagerstown, Md., died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at her residence, Homewood Pines Apartment Building, Williamsport, Md.

Born June 30, 1926, in Welsh Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Mody F. and Jeannette Culler Rock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leroy Stains, on Aug. 11, 1989.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She graduated from Greencastle High School in 1944, and from Hagerstown Business College in 1945.

She was employed as an executive secretary by J. Edward Cochran & Co. Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a lifetime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and was an avid volunteer at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Food Bank.

She was a member of the Halfway Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Kathryn L. Leedy of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Rock.

Funeral services will be at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Quentin J. Fleming will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Food Pantry at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 601 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
