Steven Michael Orndorff, 47

SHARPSBURG - Steven Michael Orndorff, 47, of Sharpsburg, Md., died suddenly on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at his home.
Steven was born in Washington County on June 23, 1962.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy L. (Stottlemyer) Orndorff.
Steven worked for 22 years as a meat cutter for both Martin's and Giant Eagle in Frederick. More recently, he was employed with United Parcel Service in Hagerstown and ran his own lawn-care business in the Sharpsburg, Shepherdstown, Boonsboro area.
Steven was known for his love of whitewater rafting and kayaking, and he enjoyed hiking and rock climbing. He was a known advocate for the rescue of greyhounds and was proud of his work in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina as a K-9 rescue volunteer.
He is survived by his loving companion and rescued greyhound, Burddee. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Beth Lentz, and her two daughters, Staci and Karen; and his two closest friends, Michael "Crunk" Crunkleton and Steven H. Aberts and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Ashley and Brody.
Friends will gather for a period of fellowship from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Md. A Life Celebration Service will follow at 7 p.m. The funeral home will be open beginning at 9 a.m. for anyone wishing to visit during the day.
