HCC women win by forfeit

The Hagerstown Community College women’s basketball team received a forfeit win against the Community College of Philadelphia in the second game of the first day of the Hagerstown Classic on Saturday night at the HCC athletic complex.

Since Philadelphia will not be coming to Hagerstown this weekend, Frederick will get a forfeit win over Philadelphia today in the final day of the mixer.

HCC’s scheduled 3 p.m. game today against Delaware Tech has been moved to 1 p.m.

“It’s great to go to 4-1,” HCC coach Marlys Palmer said. “But it’s a shame for the tournament. We never had this before.”

During the first game on Saturday, the Delaware Tech Spirit (2-1) got a 73-47 win over the Frederick Cougars (2-3).

Dohnay Banice, a 6-foot sophomore center, had 13 points and nine rebounds for Delaware Tech. Shyntae Chrismas also tallied 13 points, Kinsha Barbour and Constina Cousins added 12 points each and Teshae Murray had 11 points for Delaware Tech.

Josie Hildebrand scored 23 points for Frederick.
