CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Voters chose downtown businessman Wayne Driscoll for a Waynesboro (Pa.) Borough Council seat on Tuesday, according to complete but unofficial results from the Franklin County (Pa.) Election Board.

Incumbent Charles “Chip” McCammon was ousted in the May 19 primary election after 12 years on council, leaving his First Ward seat open for candidates Driscoll and Tiffany (Hodge) Shindledecker.

Driscoll, 42, edged Shindledecker by a margin of 97 votes. Election returns indicate he received 226 votes to her 129 votes.

Ward One includes all homes east of Church Street in the borough limits.

Driscoll, a Republican, and Shindledecker, a Democrat, both talked about their desire to shape the borough’s future during the campaign.

Driscoll, of Clayton Avenue, owns The Custom Sign Studio on West Main Street. He belongs to Main Street Waynesboro Inc. and Rotary Club of Waynesboro, and he serves on the board for Summer Jubilee.

Driscoll, who has lived in town for a decade, received a bachelor’s degree from North Adams State College in Massachusetts.

Councilman Jason Stains was unopposed for his Ward Two seat, and Councilman Craig Newcomer ran a write-in campaign after not being listed on ballots due to incomplete paperwork.

Members of Waynesboro Borough Council are paid $150 a month.
