WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorneys for sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad plan to file an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court in an effort to stop next week’s execution.
Muhammad is scheduled to die by lethal injection Nov. 10 at a Virginia prison.
Attorneys for the 48-year-old have said they planned to file the appeal Tuesday. They asked Gov. Timothy M. Kaine for clemency last month.
Muhammad is to be executed for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas, Va., gas station during a three-week killing spree in October 2002 that left 10 dead in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Muhammad and his teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, were also suspected of fatal shootings in other states, including Louisiana and Alabama. Malvo is serving a life sentence in prison.

| From: wvumom1 Tue 03 Nov 2009 11:20:32 AM EST | Would someone please explain "WHY?" Why would anyone want to keep this freak alive. He should have been dead a long time ago. There is always some scum bag attorney willing to represent low lifes like this because it is money in their pocket. The attorney has no morals and I pray that the Supreme Court has some morals and does not stop this execution. This scum did not give his victims a chance so why he should get one. If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the attorney, I have no respect for the Supreme Court and the governor of Virginia. This is ludacrist to even consider. |

| From: dlsdls Tue 03 Nov 2009 12:30:50 PM EST | My feelings about people like this are mixed. I know that he doesn't deserve mercy and I don't have much sympathy for him, but the problem I have is that I try to follow the teachings of Christianity as best I can and my instinct tells me that capital punishment is wrong just as I feel that taking the life of the unborn is wrong. I know that many Christians use Old Testament writings to justify executions, but the OT also justifies slavery and execution for things that most people would find ridiculous today. Perhaps if we made life in prison less pleasant, although I couldn't imagine anything worse, more people would see it as an alternative to the death penalty. |

| From: ajsmomma09 Tue 03 Nov 2009 01:06:28 PM EST | He had no mercy for those he killed so no mercy should be shown to him!!!!!!! |
| From: dlsdls Tue 03 Nov 2009 01:11:03 PM EST | Lawyers, while not my favorite people, are only doing their job, either to prosecute a person or get them off or at least the best judgment in the interest of the client. If you don't like the result of the trial, blame the judge and or the jury. Remember, the juries are made up of citizens. They are not a panel of lawyers. Whenever you hear of some ridiculous award of money or outrageous court decision, remember that it is usually the decision of the jury. |

AND YOU FEEL FOR THIS CREEP? Don't try to bring the bible into this, to try to save this creep. For Heaven sake, just look at his name and you think he cares about the bible, HIS ACTIONS speaks loud and clear! I say put a sponge on the top of his head, forget to wet it, then fry him up. |
| From: WBO Wed 04 Nov 2009 01:37:17 PM EST | dlsdls---Would you feel the same way if it was one of your family members, wife, son, daughter, dad, mom.....that this scumbag killed???? I think not. He doesn't deserve to have a life sentence. Heck, they get things for free that I have to pay for as well as others with our tax money. Where is the justice in that???? What is the world coming to. I hope you never have to be on a jury....mistrial for sure. And, I don't know how those defense lawyers live with themselves either, especially public defenders that OUR TAXPAYER MONEY IS PAYING FOR!!!!! |
